Kamyar Pazandeh has quickly established himself as one of the best young actors in Vancouver. The Studio 58 grad played the title role in Pericles in Bard on the Beach this summer, and will soon be sporting an Irish accent as Pete Doyle, the love of Walt Whitman’s life, in Walt Whitman’s Secret.

Kamyar played “10 Questions” with us while on break from polishing his brogue.

1. What made you want to be a theatre artist?
It stemmed from wanting to make people laugh.

2. How many plays have you acted in?
Around 30.

3. What are some favourite plays you’ve been in?
Oklahoma! and Pericles.

4. Who are some of your favourite actors?
Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Jake Gyllenhaal.

5. What’s the best piece of theatre you’ve seen this year?
Good People.

6. What’s your favourite colour?
Red.

7. All-time favourite movie?
Jurassic Park.

8. Favourite non-theatre-related activity?
Cycling.

9. Favourite drink?
Old Fashioned.

10. Why should people see Walt Whitman’s Secret?
It’s a beautiful story of people seeking truth, happiness, and love – things we can relate to.
